Greenlight Family Shield Hits New Growth Milestone Among Multigenerational Families

Greenlight®, the award-winning money and safety app for families, today announced that Family Shield, its first-of-its-kind product helping caregivers protect seniors from fraud and keep the whole family safe, is now offered by over 40 financial institution partners, reaching more than 2 million households nationwide.

“We’re proud that so many of our bank and credit union partners are collaborating with Greenlight to help families feel more confident and protected in their everyday lives,” said Matt Wolf, Chief Commercial Officer at Greenlight. “With Family Shield, we’re making it easier for caregivers to safeguard the people they love by bringing together financial protection and everyday safety tools in one seamless experience.”

June marks Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and families are increasingly focused on protecting aging loved ones from financial exploitation, which the FTC estimates costs adults up to $81.5 billion annually. As the U.S. approaches a $124 trillion wealth transfer, caregivers are also navigating how to safeguard assets while preparing the next generation to manage them responsibly.

Family Shield addresses these challenges with a single, unified platform designed for the entire family—from kids building financial literacy to seniors protected from fraud. Since becoming available to Greenlight partners in 2025, Family Shield has monitored $153 million in assets and issued more than 310,000 suspicious activity alerts, helping families stay ahead of financial fraud targeting seniors. The product is now offered by 40+ financial institution partners, including Woodforest National Bank, Affinity Federal Credit Union, and WaFd Bank.

“Greenlight has done an amazing job building financial tools for parents and their kids. With Family Shield, they’ve found a solution that can safeguard the entire family, including seniors. It has the potential to help a lot of people, and I expect it will be a great addition at WaFd Bank,” said Colt Kraft, Senior Vice President and Digital Banking Strategy Manager at WaFd Bank.

Grant Gallagher, Director of Financial Wellbeing & Brand Communications at Affinity Federal Credit Union, said, “Our mission has always been to serve our members at every stage of life. Greenlight’s Family Shield lets us protect seniors while strengthening the financial habits of the next generation. It’s a product that reflects who we are.”

For kids and teens, Greenlight builds real-world money skills through earning, saving, spending, and investing. For caregivers, Family Shield offers account monitoring, real-time fraud alerts, up to $100,000 in deceptive transfer fraud insurance†, $1 million in identity theft coverage, and family safety features like location sharing and SOS alerts.
