An internationally recognized cardiologist, Dr. Jefferies specializes in cardiomyopathies, heart failure, genetics, heritable and rare diseases, precision medicine and artificial intelligence. He has authored or co-authored more than 320 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and serves as lead editor of two leading cardiology textbooks. His research has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and multiple industry partners.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jefferies has worked at the intersection of medicine, science and emerging technology, with involvement in artificial intelligence in healthcare, precision medicine, innovative approaches to healthcare connectivity, rare disease diagnosis and management, and patient advocacy. As a member of LifeActive Bio’s Board of Directors, Dr. Jefferies will provide strategic and scientific perspective as the company continues to advance XnanodeX™ and evaluate opportunities for the platform across multiple markets. His experience spanning clinical medicine, research, emerging technology and business innovation will help inform the company’s long-term strategy and development priorities.

Dr. Jefferies currently serves as a Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Memphis. He is the immediate past Governor of the Tennessee Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and immediate past President of the American Heart Association Mid-South region.
He completed combined adult and pediatric cardiology fellowship training through Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute. Dr. Jefferies also holds an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed dual majors in Management and Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
Beyond academia and clinical medicine, Dr. Jefferies has served as a Key Opinion Leader for more than 30 national and international companies, participated on numerous scientific advisory boards and held senior medical and scientific leadership positions within the healthcare industry.
